Lose Weight The Healthy Way

Losing weight the healthy way means that you shouldn’t starve yourself or try fad or crash diets in a hurry. In effect these type of diets will have a worse effect on your body. If you started running or using the threadmill after never doing exercise for many years, you could hurt yourself and your effort to lose weight will take even more of a step backwards. The same goes if you tried to starve yourself all of a sudden. Of course if you are overweight it is advisable to eat less, but going from say 3000 calories a day to 1000 calories will not only harm you in the long run, but your body won’t shed the pounds you are hoping to get rid of.

So in short what should you do then?

Well your body uses food as energy. Any excess energy will be stored as fat. So if you eat more food than your body needs on a daily basis it will store it as fat.

So if you want your body to use the excess energy stores then you need to start eating less calories and gradually increase the amount of time in gym or just increase your activity level.

In essence if you maintain the same calorie intake, but start to work out more at the gym, you will most definitely start to lose weight. So find something you enjoy like tennis, squash, swimming or just general working out at the gym. If you enjoy hiking why not make it a regular event with your family and then everyone will gain the maximum benefit from this.

As for calorie intake, do not go on a crash diet that will harm your system. Introduce small changes and gradually it will change your lifestyle and how you eat. Just start with small things like eating a few biscuits less or having one less cake per week. It makes all the difference in the long run.
