Being Overweight

Being Overweight: My Personal story
|
There are many people out there that are overweight and also looking to lose weight. It’s an ever increasing problem and tons of people are either seeking the next miracle cure or super drug that will magically help them to lose weight.
There are many different diets and it is worth to look into some of these, but there is also a small print that says, “Beware!” since it could harm your system more than it will do good.
Probably the best way to lose weight is by going to the gym. Yes, I know some people feel very uncomfortable about going to the gym, because it may seem that people are always watching you or looking at you, but hey…who cares. You are there for your health and not how you look. People that are really thin and well toned (fit) and still go to the gym have one of two issues…they want to maintain that level of fitness, so in reality they will easily pick up weight if they stopped or people that have an obsession. So keep that in mind when you go there next, ignore them and carry on with getting your body into shape.
I will tell you a personal story. When I first started to work out at the Gym I was really big. I am talking 24 stone here. The first 3 gym workouts had me dead within 10-15 minutes. But since I have always been more flexible during my younger years and have loved climbing trees and running around, it took me 5 sessions with the gym before I could comfortably work out for at least and hour to an hour and 20 minutes. It is the mental state here that counts. I have been overweight for years, but have been active in walking to work and spending hours walking in the city sometimes window shopping. So I remember the day some older, but very well toned woman was looking me over while I was on the treadmill. She seemed genuinely perplexed. I must be the biggest person they had that came to the gym to be honest. People have this fear of the gym, but it is very satisfying indeed to see the weight fall away.
So to cut a long story short.. I noticed that with all my fat I was physically stronger than this woman could ever be. Think about it…my body is used to carrying a lot of weight. I walk up stairs and down stairs at my job and at home quite often. So when it came to the weight training for my arms, and thighs- it was a breeze. Some women would do 12 repetitions and give up before moving onto something else. I was astonished. I was given 36 to start with and I normally did a lot more in the end.
So what do you think I realized? Although I may have been disgustingly fat to them, I was physically more stronger in mind and in body than they could ever be. So that made me more comfortable in the gym and I started to enjoy myself more and more. Several months down the line and I was getting half way to my target weight. The best part is, I don’t get as sick as I used to.
For those people that absolutely refuse to go to the gym, just consider hiring a professional trainer or a personal trainer. It will do you oodles of good in the long run.
Share your story with me on when you went to the gym. Looking forward to it!
