Anti-Aging and a Few things to Consider to Help Keep your Youth
|
Everyone would want to look young and for this, anti-aging is the ‘most selling and most-wanted’ industry in today’s world. Is anti-aging a recent craze of people to look younger or has it been there for ages? Well, as this requires enormous study and delving into history, let us find out easy ways to look young at present:
1. Water – you need to drink plenty of water so that your skin stays firm and smooth; not only this, water is required for your body’s proper internal function.
2. Sleep – you need to sleep seven hours daily.
3. Food – eat simple healthy food that is cooked at home and is full of nutrients.
4. Workouts – you must and need to exercise daily for about half-an-hour. Other than exercising, you can do swimming, yoga, and brisk walking.
5. Outdoor – you must use moisturizers that have sunscreen in them. This is mainly necessary to protect your face from the sun’s burning rays that makes the facial skin look pale, tanned and dry.
6. Try to reduce stress and anxiety by involving yourself in work.
Diet plays a crucial role in the anti-aging effect; the more healthy food you eat, the more young you would look. You will see that people who eat lots of fatty food, fried food, junk food, and oily food look years older than their actual age and falls under the overweight/obese category.
Try adding the following in your daily simple home-cooked diet:
1. Ginger – add it to your soup, stir fry, sauté, and bread and feel the difference in taste and boost in your digesting process.
2. Garlic – a natural antibiotic, a clove or two a day, raw or cooked, lowers blood pressure, regulates blood sugar.
3. Broccoli – known as ‘cancer fighting vegetable’, it has high nutritional value and as such, never overcook it. It is eaten best either in salad form or stir fried with ginger and little soy sauce.
4. Dark Chocolate – with high percentage of cocoa and minimum percentage of sugar, it can be taken daily (2 to 3 squares) to make your heart healthy.
5. Berries – high in cancer fighting antioxidants, fiber and vitamins, blue, rasp, straw or acai berries can be added to muffins, pancakes, cereal, and oatmeal and eaten as a snack. Berries contain very little calories.
6. Cinnamon – regulates blood sugar, has anti-clotting properties, lowers LDL cholesterol, a pinch or two of its powder in the food will not only add flavor, it will also help in cognitive function and memory.
7. Avocado – contains vitamin E and healthy mono-unsaturated fat.
There are broadly three types of anti-aging products available in the market – (i) Antioxidants – vitamin A, C and E removes the free radicals in our system before they start damaging the cells and aid in the aging process, (ii) Herbal and natural – they either prevent or reverse the aging symptoms, and (iii) Hormones – very effective in reverse-aging.
Other than the above three types, other anti-aging products available are skin creams, magnets, vitamin supplements, cell injections, plastic surgery, special diets and meditations.
The benefits of anti-aging products are solely physical but leads to psychological benefits – when you use these products and they aid in reducing or removing age spots and wrinkles, you start looking younger; you feel to be on cloud nine! This means, when you feel young, it boosts your self esteem and confidence. There is also another benefit – these products can cater to your specific problematic areas and needs.
There are also natural supplements available for anti-aging – a variety of minerals and vitamins. The active ingredients in these supplements are mainly antioxidants (vitamin A, C and E), which help in removing the free radicals in your system before they start damaging the cells and tissues, and aid in rapid aging process. The other active ingredients are carotenes, lipoic acid and flavonoids. If taken regularly for short period of time, these supplements can effectively combat the aging process.
Fruits, flowers, plants, vegetables have natural age-defying properties and if you make some products at home using some of these and apply them externally, then they would help in getting glowing face, healthy skin and in turn, would make you look fresh and much younger than your age.
1. Mask out of Strawberry –take some strawberries (wash them properly), little aloe gel (natural – from the plant itself) and the white of two eggs (natural binder). Put these in a blender and blend until smooth. If you find it is too thin, as masks should be thick, then you can add another egg white. But make sure not to add any water. If, after blending, you find that it has become a thick paste, you will know that it is ready to use; take it out in a glass bowl (do not use steel). Rinse your face with fresh water, apply this paste evenly and leave it to dry. When it completely dries, rinse it away with warm water and apply a toner that is natural. Continue with this for a week and you will notice the difference on your face.
2. Grapefruit toner – Packed with natural antioxidants, grapefruit is excellent when used as a toner. To make it, you need natural witch hazel and grapefruit – their juices should be mixed well and stored in a refrigerator. Every time you wash your face, apply this toner. Use this a day or two, and you will get a glowing and radiant skin! If by chance you have blemishes, then add a dash of Tea Tree oil in the mixture.
Please keep it in mind that the anti-aging natural supplements are not the substitutes for exercise, hygiene and healthy diet. The supplements work to ‘supplement’ your lifestyle and diet; nothing more. If you continue maintaining unhealthy eating habits, unhealthy diet, smoking, drinking, no physical work, then don’t think that these natural supplements can never help you in defying your aging process.
Additionally most anti-aging products, regardless of their claims, require some basic personal care on a level you should be willing to give if you want the full benefits of the product. So don’t neglect or underestimate the real need for exercise, good hygiene and healthy eating habits.
